We are situated in a beautiful area in the Centre of England, which is filled with a host of things to do and places to visit in Staffordshire as well as Derbyshire, Shropshire, Cheshire and Leicestershire all within an hour’s drive.
For the children (and those young at heart) there is Alton Towers, Drayton Manor Park, Water World and Tamworth Snowdome. We are only 5 miles from Cannock Chase with loads of activities from the “Go Ape” Horse trekking and Cycle trails, to bird watching and woodland walks. On the edge of the Chase, there is Shugborough Hall with its Historic working farm and events throughout the year.
The Peak District is nearby, with Ashbourne a 30-minute drive, on the way to Historic Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey and Haddon Hall as well as the lovely village of Tissington along with Dovedale and Ilam and far too many other attractions to mention.
We are the area of the National Forest with Barton Marina one of its new attractions. This is also near to The National Memorial Arboretum, which is a very beautiful and moving place to visit for both young and old. Donnington Park is just 35 minutes along the A50. Uttoxeter Racecourse is only 6 miles away
The Potteries in Stoke on Trent are 25 miles away and there are still numerous smaller companies producing lovely ceramics there all with factory shops to tempt you along with the museums of many of the older companies who have now sadly moved on. The county town of Stafford has many lovely historic buildings including the ancient High House and the Castle which stages outdoor Shakespearean productions every summer. Lichfield is a lovely place to visit with its magnificent cathedral and many antique shops
Adjacent to the farm is Blithfield Reservoir where you are able to purchase tickets for trout fishing both from the bank and from a boat. There is also Carp fishing available. Triathlons also take place on the Reservoir and in the surrounding area each year and the bird watching and new woodland trails will soon be opening at the northern end.
